We understand the peculiarities of rest on the islands
The Maldives and Seychelles are known as the best romantic getaways, but the resort options are much broader. What can the islands offer to travelers with children in the summer, how to choose the right hotel and book a room with a discount? Ninel Shakhbekova, head of the Indian Ocean Islands Department of the ART-TOUR tour operator.
Kid-friendly: children are welcome here
Many hotels in the Maldives and Seychelles are family-oriented – there are special rooms in almost all hotels. As a rule, these are separate villas with at least two bedrooms – this type of accommodation is in great demand now. Some hotels have even converted the number of rooms, as there was a shortage of such rooms.
The summer season is a great opportunity to relax at a good price. Hotels traditionally provide discounts on accommodation.
Another argument in favor of a family vacation in the Maldives or Seychelles is that many hotels also provide free accommodation for at least one child (or even more). In addition, young travelers are provided with free meals in the restaurant according to the children’s menu or a 50% discount on dishes from the main menu.
All year round, the islands have comfortable weather without a long rainy season, and the stunning nature and soft sand make them the best place for families with children of any age.
Almost all hotels have children’s clubs. As a rule, the entire program is in English. But do not be afraid to leave the child alone – children easily adapt to speech in a foreign language and communicate well in sign language. So they will appreciate the lessons of modeling, drawing, culinary workshops, performances and performances. Young travelers under 4 years old in the club are accompanied by an adult or a professional nanny – their services are also provided by many hotels.
There are separate clubs for teenagers – with video game consoles and board games. In addition to clubs, outdoor playgrounds are equipped for children, there are pools with slides and other infrastructure. Sports activities will help diversify your leisure time: yoga, volleyball, gym and more. Also, many hotels in the Maldives offer cruises – in particular, meeting with dolphins. Particularly popular are snorkeling and a diving school, where you can get training under the supervision of professionals. Moreover, this is suitable not only for beginners, but also for those who continue – at school they can improve their level of skill.
The Maldives and Seychelles are considered some of the safest destinations. These are the best places for the most secluded relaxation. If you wish, you can book not only a separate villa, but also an entire island.
Many hotels are working hard to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and ensure a safe holiday for tourists. To enter, you must present a negative PCR test certificate for COVID-19. When exactly you need to do the test depends on the airline operating the flight. In addition, some Maldivian hotels ask for additional testing upon arrival.
All rules on the conditions of entry are collected on the tour operator’s website – a separate chapter is devoted to this on the pages about the Maldives and Seychelles. Standard insurance of the tour operator “ART-TOUR” covers treatment for COVID-19.
And you can seek medical help at any time – as a rule, each hotel has its own doctor.
The islands got closer
You can get to the archipelagos in different ways. The most convenient for traveling with children is a direct flight operated by Aeroflot.
Traditionally, in the summer, the flight program to the Maldives was reduced from 7 flights a week to 5. How will it be this year depends on demand.
Aeroflot flies to Seychelles three times a week, from June the number of flights will increase to 4. In addition, flights with transfers are also available for booking.
How to choose a resort?
The islands have hotels and resorts for every client’s request. A unique underwater world, spectacular sunsets, varied cuisine and the best spa treatments – it’s all about the Maldives. Experts “ART-TOUR” advise to pay attention to the following hotels:
Lily Beach Resort & Spa 5 * – located on a private island in the middle of the blue waters of the Indian Ocean, working on an all-inclusive basis. It offers 125 luxury villas, 2 outdoor pools, a diving center and 5 restaurants and bars.
Soneva Fushi 5 * – a unique in its concept hotel in the style of the residence of Robinson Crusoe. It perfectly combines an informal style of recreation (“barefoot luxury”) and a high level of comfort and service. Guests will find many restaurants with varied cuisine, a kids club – one of the best in the Maldives, a SPA complex with an extensive selection of programs, as well as cheese and chocolate rooms.
Kandima Maldives 5 * – get ready for the wow effect, because this hotel is more than just another place to stay. Guests will find a completely new resort format, as well as 264 studios and villas, the second longest outdoor infinity pool in the Maldives, the widest choice of water activities, its own marine biological center and diving school, an art studio, culinary art lessons and more.
Seychelles’ nature is impressive with its beauty and diversity. The largest island in the archipelago is Mahe. Here you can both plunge into the atmosphere of a lively resort, and retire in a small bay where no one will disturb. The second largest island, Praslin, is ideal for family vacations. It is known for its long beaches with the softest white sands, coconut groves and rare animal species. But adventure lovers should go to the picturesque La Digue, surrounded by a coral reef. It is famous for its impenetrable jungle and beaches – it is they who are photographed for advertising brochures of the Seychelles.
